Pharrell Lanscilo Williams is one of the most influential music producers of the 21st century. The American musician, singer, rapper, record producer, and songwriter has had a major impact on the music industry. Williams began his career by creating the R&B and hip hop production duo “The Neptunes” in the 1990s. Since then, the Grammy Award-winning artist has had a very successful career. William is widely referred to as one of the most successful music producers of the 21st century.
Early Life
Born and brought up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Pharrell Williams was the eldest son in his family. His mother, Carolyn was a school teacher, and his father, Pharoah Williams was a handyman. Williams had an active interest in music since the beginning and used to play the drums in high school. After graduating from high school in 1991, he attended the Northwestern Unversity. However, he dropped out after two years.
Music Career
Pharrell Williams started his professional music career in the early 1990s. He formed the R&B and hip hop band “The Neptunes”. Soon after, he became the lead vocalist of the popular band “N.E.R.D”. This music band was formed by Williams, along with Shay Haley and Hugo. In 2006, Pharrell went ahead and launched his solo debut album titled “In My Mind”. Some of his popular tracks include “Happy”. Which was also the lead single for the soundtrack for the popular animated film “Despicable Me 2”.
Williams has had a wonderful music career and has also received numerous awards and nominations for his work. The record producer takes inspiration from several legendary artists, including Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye, among others. Williams has also won a staggering thirteen Grammy Awards. Along with several other awards, he is also a two-time Academy Award nominee. Apart from his professional career, Pharrell is married to model and fashion designer, Helen Laaichanh.
